Mark Lloyd is a renowned english photographer since approximately ten years, living near Portsmouth, with an extensive experience working with luxury boat and yachting brands, media agencies, advertising campaigns, prestigious boat designers, high-end manufacturers and owners of some of the world's most celebrated yachts and boats.

Past clients include Volvo, Hugo Boss, Musto, Boat International, The Vendee Globe and AVIVA as well as superyacht and luxury boat brands.

Quite discreet, always optimistic, he always delivers state of the arts pictures when assigned to a photo shoot, and manage to get the most out of the natural light.

Shot at the start of the 2017 edition of the Vendée Globe, the famous sailing race around the world, solo and non-stop, this photo perfectly illustrates the majesty of this boat. The dark color of its shell, "black carbon", with multiple honeycomb alveoli as decoration, the sober side of its design and its sails in carbon Cuban fiber, will not leave indifferent anyone amongst the tens of thousands of spectators present at Les Sables d'Olonne the days before the start. We know there that Alex Thomson, her English skipper, is determined to fight.
The photographer Mark Lloyd's bias to photograph this boat from the water, almost counter-balanced, reinforces the very dynamic and voluntary side of this magnificent monohull.
We can also distinguish very well the starboard foil taken out of its scabbard, the same one that Alex will break during his descent of the Atlantic, which will cause a lot of ink and discuss many journalists "really broken or not?" But that certainly represents one of the reasons why Alex will not do better than 2nd at the finish.
Would it not be its dark color, with this foil unfolded, this outrigger at port and its yellow leg (keel), it could be confused with one of those kings of the winds and the south seas which are the Albatrosses, starting a flight...
