Cédric Marcadier

Passionate about motorsport from an early age, Cédric Marcadier was 12 years old when the Val de Vienne circuit emerged from the ground. He accompanies his father there at the weekend, who introduces him to speed, racing and the atmosphere of the paddocks. He is quickly offered his first film camera to immortalize the cars he meets there.

Later, he moved to Paris where he pursued engineering studies but kept his passion intact. With friends he created an association to organize track days. It was by wanting to immortalize their exploits that he discovered digital photography. From then on, he will seek to render the atmosphere, the sensations, the adrenaline inherent in this sport.

He then began his self-taught apprenticeship. He developed his technical and artistic skills by browsing the automotive press where he observed the methods of specialists in the field, but he also scoured photo exhibitions and discovered a passion that went far beyond the framework of the automobile.
Thus, among his influences we can cite sports photographers like Paul Henri Cahier or Vladimir Rys but also artists such as Michael Kenna whose minimalism, careful framing and mastery of black and white he admires, or even Sarah Moon and Paolo Roversi for their use of blur.
The rest of his career is built according to the meetings. He collaborates more and more with clubs during their outings on the circuit, does some freelance work for motorcycle magazines and will have the opportunity to follow Simon Pagenaud between 2004 and 2005 when he races in Formula Renault 2.0 then 3.5. Subsequently, he covered various events in several national and international championships (FFSA and FIA GT, BELCAR, BTCC, Lotus Cup Europe...).
Gradually he detaches himself from the documentary approach and gives way to a more conceptual and artistic style, abandoning color in favor of black and white for its timeless side. However, its objective remains the same: to convey the essence of automotive passion.

Location: Ardèche
During the 2007 Monte Carlo Historic Rally, this white Porsche 356 blended in perfectly with the snowy landscapes crossed by the competitors.
This padded atmosphere allows the image to exude a great softness, coming to marry perfectly with this icon of motorsport.
