I started making photos when an old compact digital Olympus camera of my father arrived in my hands when I was 15 years old. One year later, I started to cover some national races at the Circuit de Catalunya, that will soon become my second home.
I spend days and days shooting at this track, in all the possible competitions, this hobbie started to be a reality when I began studying Photography and Digital Creation at UPC (Universitat Politecnica de Barcelona) in 2012.
Bit after bit I started working for some media and agencies, going to the F1 winter tests in Spain tracks, when in 2014 I covered my first GPs in Spain and Italy. This same year I also started doing other sports like football or basketball in FC Barcelona in a more professional way.
Now I’m in my last year of university and meanwhile, I’m working as a freelance photographer, especially in motorsport photography.
On 2015 the FIA incorporates skids plates of titanium to reignite spark in F1 cars. For the first tests of the season at Jerez, the most visual point of this sparks was the backstretch where the F1 reach more than 300 km/h.
So I moved near the braking point setting up the camera shutter at low speed. After several attempts, I finally got this spectacular panning of the Toro Rosso with all the sparks drawing their path on image.
I made this image with a Canon 7D, and a Tamron 150-600mm f5.6 - f6.3 lens at 600mm focal distance, the shutter speed was 1/8 second at f25 and ISO 100. During the Formula One winter tests on February of 2015, at the Circuito de Jerez, Spain.
