Stephanie Billarant, born in Nantes in 1966, lives and works in Nantes.
Through an experimental approach, Stephanie Billarant, photographer, techniques discoverer, says livin her work as a journey beyond the pins. His photographs question the vision. The real is manipulated to the point that it becomes sometimes abstract.
In parallel to the photography art and painting, Stephanie Billarant, companion of Bruno Peyron, becomes official photographer of Energy team in the 34th America's Cup World Series and joins during 2 years the team via Cascais, Plymouth, Venice , Naples, San Diego, San Francisco and Newport. Present on the sails of St Tropez, famous starts (Route du Rhum, Jules Verne Trophy) and GC 32.
The Yacht Club de La Baule, organizes the annual international derby dragon, in May-June, attracting the world's best crews.
It is a magnificent spectacle of 45 Dragons racing in the Bay of La Baule. In 2014, it was again Martin Payne who won, faithful participant and several victories in the pocket.
This photo was taken during the edition of 2014, on board of a speedboat. That day, the wind was missing terribly, dragons placed under spinnaker, a blazing sun, difficult to capture a dynamic photo. Thus, I chose to use a new technique with a very slow speed for the first time, something I had never tried before on boats.
Experimenting is sometimes a surprise, when there is nothing else to do. A slow speed associated with movement of the case, gave me this graphic look, uncluttered, where dragons become pencils. The world of sailing with an artistic eye. Since then, I happen to repeat this technique, then wind or not, there are always good reasons to be on the water.
