After his retirement in Le Castellet, Niki Lauda intends to take revenge. After dominating the qualifiers together, Lauda will take the lead in front of Hunt, but a pileup will upset the game.
Lauda was able to save his pole position until the 45th lap where Hunt will have the opportunity to make it inside, to then increase his lead over the lap until the victory.
However, Hunt will unfortunately be disqualified at court a few weeks later for being allowed "illegally" to participate in the 2nd start of the race, by a management who feared a riot on the part of the English public, if ever their "playboy driver" could not run ...
So it will be a victory for Niki Lauda and his Ferrari 312T2 displaying the number 1.
