This 1967 London Trophy was not part of the first European Championship of Formula 2, won by the Belgian Jacky Ickx, on a Matra of the Matra International team (Tyrrell Racing / Matra MS5 Cosworth FVA), but allowed to make a idea of the forces involved. Indeed, Jacky Ickx and Jean-Pierre Beltoise had the same Matra, the advanced car of the time, but were not part of the same team. Ickx ran for Tyrrell Racing, with Stewart and Jaussaud, while Beltoise was at Matra Sports with Servoz-Gavin and Pescarolo.
Beyond the typical atmosphere of the time, bobbies, antique speakers, unprotected spectators on the edge of the track, we can also admire the engaged style of these two champions.
This photo is the perfect representation of our dreams full of motorized nostalgia!
